Anchorage Opera’s studio artists are the next generation of opera singers. Studio artist training is designed to bridge the gap between the conservatory world to the professional stage. Most studio artists have graduated from their bachelor's and/or master's degree programs at leading conservatories and universities. Additionally, some of our more experienced studio artists utilize this program to keep their operatic skills marketable. This program provides singers with a variety of performance and training opportunities emphasizing stage movement, interpretation, musicality and language.
Opportunities for Studio Artists
- Supporting roles, understudying principal roles and ensemble work in AO’s main stage productions.
- Private coaching in all role and understudy assignments with our music staff.
- Regular master classes by local and visiting artists, classes on acting, stage movement, and career counseling sessions.
Eligibility
Applicants must be 18 years or older and are accepted by audition only. Applicants must currently reside in the state of Alaska.
