Synopsis

The plot concerns a number of applicants auditioning for a position with an opera workshop. Each attempts to outdo the other by avoiding the familiar audition arias and by substituting arias from previously “undiscovered” operas by well known composers. Against his better judgment, the director decides to engage all of them.

Synopsis

Two married couples meet for a regular evening of bridge. During the course of the evening each individual, bored with his or her lifestyle and spouse, indulges in a personal expression of fantasy and hidden desires.

Malady of Love (A Sham in One Act)

Place: A Psychoanalyst’s Office

Synopsis

Dr. Stanley Barlow, a psychoanalyst, is awaiting the arrival of his next patient. Something is bothering him but he can’t identify it. Emily Brown, a vivacious young girl enters and reminds Barlow that they once met at a cocktail party. The session begins and Barlow has her lie down, asking her about unusual dreams she has had while he takes notes. Brown begins explaining her dream which includes a party at which all the glasses transform into men; she is a neon sign; she is nude and the doctor is a serpent offering her an apple; another party at which all the men become ice cubes. Following Brown’s narrative, Barlow confesses he has also been having problems. They both confess their love for one another and the curtain closes.
